Description
Have you had the chance to lay eyes on the Eschif in Périgueux, France?
It is truly awe-inspiring! This remarkable structure has been standing for nearly seven centuries, and throughout all that time, it has been expertly balanced on a narrow corbelled wall. Initially serving as a lookout for a toll bridge, the Eschif was constructed in 1347 using an oak timber frame with wattle & daub infill. It is simply remarkable that a building so old could still be standing, but the Eschif is a true testament to the skill of its builders. If you find yourself in Périgueux, you absolutely must take a closer look at this incredible piece of history.
