Description
In 1773, American colonists, frustrated and angry at Britain for imposing “taxation without representation,” dumped 342 chests of tea, imported by the British East India Company into the Atlantic Ocean, a night that would become known as the “Boston Tea Party.” This event pushed the colonies and Britain closer to war, leading to the American Revolution a few years later.
The protesters, disguised as Native Americans and led by Samuel Adams, boarded three tea ships from Britain and dumped their cargo into the Boston Harbor. The British government responded harshly and the event became a turning point in the American Revolution.
